SELECTED PROJECTS

The idea behind my drawings is about my perception of the surroundings and how everything we see around us is held together by a link between the basic units of chemical elements -atoms.  At the same time, I frequently imagine that anything with a physical form and shape can also come apart and crumble into tiny particles at any given moment. The ever-shifting nature of existence and the idea of mortality are my primary interests of exploration.

My drawings began to emerge when I was able to shed certain anxieties and preconceived ideas about myself and surroundings. The technique I use creates an opportunity to concentrate on one single movement at a time. A repetition of that one action multiplied by thousand times recreates a sense of meditation- concentration on breathing, one breath at a time. The final outcome is not relevant, it is the present moment and a single dot at a time that creates a favorable environment for immersing oneself in tranquility.

Throughout my education, I have always been told the right and the wrong ways to do something. Line weight, proportions and or color choices are some of the few subject matters professors had always wanted to improve.  My current method gives me the freedom to enjoy the process without overanalyzing the notions mentioned above. Stippling gives me the liberty to create without constant critique. There is a lot of repetition and almost mechanical quality in the process, I embrace these notions because they provide relief to my over-active mind.
